Social Contribution

1) During the Art Exhibition, Greek Olympians from the International Olympic Truce Centre taught children from local school programs as well as Scouts the educational program “Respecting Diversity.”

Participants in the activity included the Deputy Director of the International Olympic Truce Centre and coordinator of the program, Ms. Dora Palli, as well as the Olympians:
Evi Moraitidou (Silver Olympic medalist in Water Polo),
Dimitris Kaffatos (Olympian in Handball),
Dimitris Miteloudis (Olympian in Water Polo).
Subsequently, the children were guided through the art exhibition “Ithi Kallidrome!” (“Forward, swift runner!”).
For her contribution and support in the implementation of the program both in Athens—during the conference held at the War Museum—and in Ilia, the Deputy Director of the International Olympic Truce Centre, Ms. Dora Palli, was honored.

2) With an olive branch in their hands and Ilia in their hearts, thousands of tourists bid farewell to Katakolo

Enthusiastic and holding an olive branch, thousands of tourists bid farewell to Katakolo on Thursday, arriving aboard the cruise ships OOsterdam, Costa Luminosa, and Rhapsody of the Seas.

The small hospitality celebration was organized by the Federation of Olympia and the Ilian Cultural and Development Association “Politeia of Ilida Olympia” (https://politiailidasolympias.blogspot.com/), with the participation of the Katakolo Port Authority.
The initiative of the Association, which began in 2010 to promote Ilian hospitality and local products, left the best impressions on the thousands of visitors.

During the event, informational leaflets about Ilia and about The Route of Truce were distributed, together with an olive branch—the eternal symbol of the Truce and Peace.

In a specially arranged area, members of local associations and volunteers offered tourists traditional products from Ilia (olive oil, olives, feta cheese, wine, fruits, handmade sweets, etc.). Members of the Ancient Ilida Cultural Association “Ancient Ilida” offered visitors the traditional riganada with fresh homemade tomatoes, extra virgin olive oil, oregano from Andritsaina, and handmade sweets.

The hospitality celebration, during this difficult period for everyone, was supported by the following businesses:
OLYMPIA XENIA, Simotas O.E. (catering supplies), Zarras Bakeries (Vartholomio) and VASILIKON (Birbili – Pyrgos), ILVIZACH and Patsios pastry shops, Merkouri Estate, Olympia Feta and KALOMOIRIS dairies, MARITSAS olive mills (Chavari), Spiros Papazafeiropoulos and Nik. Maraziotis (Chavari), KOTINOS extra virgin olive oil (Pegasus Imports Exports), the butcher shop Ilias Diamantopoulos (Pyrgos), and fruit producers Giannis and Fotis Georgopoulos (Vrana).

During the event, many tourists expressed interest in purchasing the offered products. However, as the participating companies had been informed in advance by the organizers, visitors were either directed to shops in Katakolo or provided with informational leaflets and business cards of the companies that had supported the event.
