“Route of Ifitos 2025”

• THE ROUTE OF IFITOS took place on Saturday afternoon in Ancient Ilida.
  This symbolic route is dedicated to Ifitos, King of Ilida and one of the pioneers of the Olympic Truce, who—together with Kleosthenis, King of Pisa, and Lycurgus of Sparta—signed the Treaty of the Truce.

Children from the 5th and 6th grades of Primary School, as well as students of Junior High School, took part.
The young runners started from the square of Ilida and finished at the Modern Theatre of Ancient Ilida, covering a distance of nearly 2 kilometres.
All children were honoured for their participation. Special awards were given to the first finishers:
from Primary School, Georgios Christodoulopoulos from Ancient Ilida and Okeanida Karakatsani from Athens, and from Junior High School, Zisis Karakatsanis from Athens and Chrysi Kalogeropoulou from Avgeio.

The Route of Ifitos was held as part of the activities of #BEACTIVE.

All events were organised by Sympoliteia Olympia AMKE, with co-organisers the Region of Western Greece, the Municipalities of Ilida, Pyrgos and Ancient Olympia, the Supreme Council of Sports of the Armed Forces (ASAED), with the collaborating support organisation being the International Olympic Truce Centre, and with the support of the Region of Attica and #BEACTIVE.
They were held under the auspices of the Ministries of National Defence, Education, Religious Affairs and Sports, Rural Development and Food, and Tourism, as well as the International Military Sports Council (CISM), the Hellenic Olympic Committee (HOC), the International Olympic Academy (IOA), the Greek National Tourism Organisation (GNTO), the National Olympic Academy, the Association of Olympic Participants, and the Hellenic Olympians Association.
Volunteer support was provided by the Hellenic Red Cross – Samaritan, Rescuer and Lifeguard Corps (Regional Department of Amaliada), the Hellenic Red Cross – Regional Department of Pyrgos, the 1st Scout System of Ilioupoli, E.O.P.Y.D. Vrachnaikon and S.E.DI.P. Western Achaia.
