“Route of Ifitos 2022”
Children’s & Youth 2 km Race in Ancient Ilida – Saturday, May 14, 2022.
In the afternoon of Saturday, shortly before the Opening Ceremony of the Route of Truce, the Route of Ifitos 2022 took place, running from the village of Ancient Ilida to the Archaeological Site of Ilida (former archaeological collection).
The race was addressed to children from the final grades of Primary School (5th and 6th grade) and Junior High School students, aiming to connect the modern element—represented by the village of Ilida and the children—with the ancient element, represented by the archaeological site of Ilida.
The route is dedicated to Ifitos, King of Ancient Ilida and one of the pioneers of the Olympic Truce.
In the “Route of Ifitos”, the winners were:
- Children’s Race – Winner: Spyridon Panagiotis Zogopoulos
- Children’s Race – Winner (Girls): Anthi Angelatou
- Youth Race – Winner: Charalampos Chronopoulos
- Youth Race – Winner (Girls): Maria Antiochou
The collaborating institutions in the activities of Sympoliteia Olympia for the 7th Route of Truce were the International Olympic Truce Centre and the Czech Centre Athens.
The activities were supported by the Region of Attica and #BEACTIVE and were held under the auspices of the Ministries of National Defence, Culture and Sports – General Secretariat of Sports, Rural Development and Food, Tourism, CISM, the Hellenic Olympic Committee, the International Olympic Academy, EOT, ETHNOA, and the Association of Olympic Participants.
In addition, the activities of Sympoliteia Olympia received Technical Support from the Hellenic War Museum and media sponsorship from the Panhellenic Association of Sports Journalists (PSAT), ERT, ERT-3, Proto Programma, ERA Sport, ERT Pyrgos, Athens 9.84, RunningNews.gr, OVI Magazine, apopseis.gr, and Greekteachers.
