On Sunday morning, the Route of Truce was held for the first time in the form of a competitive race dedicated to Kleosthenis, King of Ancient Pisa.
The event, titled “The Route of Kleosthenis 2021”, covered a distance of 5 km, had a competitive character and included the participation of both adults and minors.

The starting signal was given by the Mayor of Ancient Olympia, together with the Director of ASAED, Navy Captain Spyridon Andriopoulos (holder of the Greek national records in the Marathon and the 10,000 metres).

The Route of Kleosthenis was organised by Sympoliteia Olympia and ASAED.
Runners participated from Greece as well as from three international delegations (Palestine, Lithuania and Hungary).

The runners started from the Church of Agia Kyriaki in Ancient Pisa, passed by the tombs of the Hellanodikai, in front of the International Olympic Academy and the Ancient Stadium of Olympia, and finished at the Old Town Hall of Ancient Olympia.

Running honorarily and outside competition were: the Director of ASAED, Navy Captain Spyridon Andriopoulos, the head of the Palestinian Armed Forces team, Brigadier General Amal Khalil, and Olympian Florentia Sfakianou.

With a strong sense of responsibility in light of the COVID-19 pandemic, and in order to ensure the safest possible participation of runners, judges, volunteers, staff, medical and support personnel, the organisation of “The Route of Kleosthenis 2021” fully complied with the Health Protocol issued by the competent federation SEGAS for road races held outside stadiums.

The technical support of the race was provided by the Secretariat of the Supreme Council of Sports of the Armed Forces (ASAED).

The Route of Kleosthenis was supported by volunteers from the village of Pisa and members of the Pyrgos Scouts, whom we warmly thank.

Start: The start of the 5 km race was given at 11:00, in front of the Chapel of Agia Kyriaki in the village of Ancient Pisa.

Route: The race took place on a course with mild ascents and descents, finishing at the square of the Old Town Hall of Ancient Olympia.

Participation: The number of participants was limited. Participation was free of charge and official timing was provided.
