Within the framework of the social program of FEDERATION OF OLYMPIA AMKE, members and volunteers of the Organization sent a message of solidarity and support from Myrsini and Amaliada to refugees affected by war in their homeland, as well as to fellow citizens in need.

Starting from the Controlled Temporary Accommodation Facility for Asylum Seekers of Kyllini, they delivered clothing, toys, books, etc., in order—within our modest means—to alleviate even slightly the pain of forced displacement from home and homeland experienced by these people. All items were collected with the help of friends of the Organization for those who sought a better world without bombings and hunger. A better world where peace prevails. And what better place to demonstrate this than here, where the universal values of reconciliation, equality, freedom and democracy were born, as well as the Truce, which is a precursor to peace and, in ancient Greece, a prerequisite for participation in the Olympic Games.

In addition to the dozens of volunteer friends who offered toys, books, clothes, shoes, etc., the Federation of Olympia would like to warmly thank the company AVANCE, which supports the actions of the “Route of Truce” and provided the vehicle used to transport clothing and toys to the Myrsini facility.

Subsequently, members of FEDERATION OF OLYMPIA AMKE, led by the Secretary of the Organization, Mr. Konstantinos Kontogiannis, delivered plastic caps to the Volunteer Corps of Samaritans – Rescuers and Lifeguards of the Hellenic Red Cross, Amaliada Regional Department. The caps are collected at their premises and will be delivered to the Association of Paraplegic and Mobility-Impaired Persons of the Regional Unit of Ilia.

Mr. Konstantinos Kontogiannis, as a member of the Federation of Olympia and also as Leader of the 1st Scout Group of Ilioupoli, congratulated them both for their valuable assistance during the “Route of Truce” events and for their continuous efforts and support offered to fellow citizens in need. It is noted that volunteers of the Volunteer Corps of Samaritans – Rescuers and Lifeguards of the Hellenic Red Cross, Amaliada Regional Department, provide medical coverage for the runners of the “Route of Truce”.

For the collection of the plastic caps, Mr. Konstantinos Kontogiannis warmly thanked:

• The runners of the Route of Truce
• The residents–volunteers of the villages along the Route of Truce, who collect the plastic caps
• STASY (Urban Rail Transport S.A.), which, within the framework of its Corporate Social Responsibility actions, chose to donate plastic caps collected by its employees for the purchase of wheelchairs for people with disabilities in the Regional Unit of Ilia. Special thanks were addressed to the CEO of STASY, Mr. Athanasios Kottaras, and Mrs. Annita Patsouraki, responsible for STASY CSR actions.
• The ^1st Scout Group of Ilioupoli (which also supports the Route of Truce actions every year).

Finally, we all extend our warm thanks to the company AVANCE, which once again stands by our side and supports every effort by providing vehicles for our actions.
